A Practical Methodology for Trader Development

Instradev, LLC’s PROCESS

Training program development begins with a consultation about the client’s unique challenges, timetable, and goals. From that starting point Instradev, LLC will customize the content, depth of exploration of the material, and any market and product-specific examples to ensure that the training program is targeting all of the client’s developmental requirements. Instradev, LLC will produce a detailed proposal including an outline of each lecture for the client’s review and approval. Depending on the magnitude of the project and complexity of the customization, iterative rounds of review and approval may be involved during the content creation process until the client is completely satisfied that the training program will meet the developmental needs of the participants.

Mr. Rubano is uniquely qualified to provide this training. Not only does he bring his insightful knowledge and years of research on what it takes to be a successful trader but his passion is clearly felt through his relevant story telling

Founder & Principal

Instradev, LLC’s greatest strength is the depth and breadth of experience that our founder is able to draw upon to create practical, impactful training solutions. Joel Rubano is an energy commodity trader with twenty years of experience at merchant trading companies, deregulated utility subsidiaries, a hedge fund, and an international oil producer. He has been responsible for hedging the financial exposures of a multi-billion dollar asset portfolio and has speculatively traded oil, natural gas, coal and electricity on an institutional scale.

In 2020, he published the second edition of Trader Construction Kit, a practical guide to developing the skills and techniques employed by professional traders at financial institutions that forms the basis of Instradev, LLC's training methodology. In 2017 Mr. Rubano published the follow-up paper A Comparison of Current Academic and Industry Pedagogies for Developing Traders on SSRN.

Mr. Rubano's approach to developing traders is market and product agnostic, focusing on the processes that form the common foundation of all successful trading methodologies.

Rubano holds a BS in Managerial Economics from Carnegie Mellon University and a Master of Science in Finance from University of Massachusetts Lowell.
